The saga of Pacific Rim 2 continues as director Guillermo del Toro is out and Daredevil: Season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is in to make his directorial debut.
According to Deadline, DeKnight, who also created the Spartacus series for Starz, will take over directing duties for the 3D sequel to the 2013 Kaiju versus giant robots action flick.
Del Toro will continue to serve as a producer on Pacific Rim 2. The film's script was written by Jon Spaihts, who also penned Prometheus.
Pacific Rim 2 was reportedly expected to begin shooting last November. Production was then delayed and the film was put on hold and possibly canceled back in September.
