Valve has increased its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship prize pool from $250,000 to $1 million. Starting with Major League Gaming's Columbus event at the end of March, players will receive substantially larger prizes for their efforts at each Major Championship.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community has grown at an "incredible rate," putting its tournaments among the most watched in the world. The game's ESL 2015 One Cologne event raked in over 27 million unique viewers online—up thirty percent from the ESL One tournament held earlier in the year.
