Effective immediately, Twitter has announced you'll no longer be marking tweets you're particularly fond of with stars and labelling them "Favorites" - instead, they'll be called "Likes", with the new symbol denoting your approval revealed as a heart.
The decision, which was allegedly made in pursuit of simplifying the platform by introducing a more universally-understood symbol and terminology, also brings Twitter in-line with the other platforms owned by the company, Vine and Periscope.
"Starting today, you'll see hearts on Twitter for iOS and Android, twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on Tweets across the Internet, as well as on the Vine Android app and website," a post explains. "You'll see them soon on Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac. Tap the heart and see what happens!"
