BBC's modern Sherlock is returning to its roots in a new TV special. The Benedict Cumberbatch-starring series is getting a Victorian makeover for its return to the small screen, and a new trailer offers a preview of what's in store.
The special is separate from the TV series, and takes the Sherlock Holmes story back to the time period of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels. As showrunner Steven Moffat quipped when he presented some footage from the special at San Diego Comic-Con, "We discovered there was some precedent for it. We looked at the books and thought, 'God, we got this wrong, it's not supposed to be modern at all!'"
