According to director, Hajime Tabata, Final Fantasy XV has to sell 10 million copies over its lifespan to make back the money put into the game (presumably as well as its accompanying movie, anime series and mobile games).
As reported by Kotaku UK, Tabata used a press conference to announce the figure. As of last year, the only game in the series to have sold over 10 million copies is Final Fantasy VII, which has sold 11 million across its PlayStation, PSN re-release, PC, and iOS versions.
