In this Review im going to be looking at the Elephone S3.. Big thanks to Elephone for the review sample.

The phone arrived in 6 days to the UK via DHL with £16 Import Tax's to pay ouch

First of all a few facts about the Elephone S3

This is the 2nd elephone i have owned my first being the elephone p7000.

The s3 looks & feels so much better, it has a real quality feel about it with the 5.2inch Bezel-less Screen that goes right to the phones edge's.
The 5.2inch Bezel-less Screen is a big selling point for me & wow does it stand out its a pleasure to use & show off.





The colour quality of the screen its self is outstanding everything looks so crisp & clear witch stand out even better when your using the camera.

Its not a light phone weighing in at 145g but a nice sturdy phone.It comes with 3GB RAM,16GB ROM,Octa Core, 1.3GHz chipset, 5.2inch Bezel-less 2.5D Arc FHD Screen, Android 6.0 , 13 mega-pixel main camera & a 5 mega pixel front facing camera.

The first thing I did with the phone was to check for a OTA update just to make sure I was on the latest FW.There was a update 20160612 (Don't ask me what the change log was as its in Chinese.But anyway I installed the update very easy,The one thing I did notice was the new ELE UI.

The UI appears in the form of Launcher,Where you can find the option in settings and choose from

Android original UI and the ELE UI. See video below Android UI & ELE UI Compared.




Usability

The Elephone s3 has a Octa core 1.3GHz Processor along with the Mali-T720 GPU giving it better performance than most phones.It comes with Android 6.0 out the box witch runs Awesome.
The UI looks great & with the 3GB of RAM everything runs smooth & fast.

Using the Fingerprint scanner on the s3 is cool.It reads my fingerprint every time iv not had it fail yet, Just over 1 second to open the phone + you can use is to take front facing photos,Scroll the phones app draw,Skip music songs, Nice touch ha ha.

Iv Installed & tested both beach buggy blitz and asphalt 8 & both play ok but played better once i had reduced the graphics quality.

Another cool thing with the S3 is the Turbo download it combines 4g and wifi both at the same time giving you very fast downloads indeed.

For me the only down side to the Elephone s3 is the 2100mAh battery,It would of been nice to see something a bit bigger as it will need charging everyday but on a plus side it does charge from flat in about 2.5 hours.

Broken buttons

So I accidentally dropped my Shield tablet and it landed on the side where the buttons were. Now the button are broken I can't press the power button and the volume buttons. The tablet itself is shutdown so I can't turn it on.
When I connect the tablet into a charger the screen turns on and shows the battery icon and telling me it's charging..

So is there anyway if I can turn it on without the button or is there any way that I can fix it.
The warranty has expired....
P.S i have contacted nvidia and they told me they can't do anything about it

issues with the online

Hey guys

My sis phone died like two or three years ago and kept it since. She really wants to obtain data from it memory.

The digitizer works but the lcd won't turn on. Phone turns on as the capacitive touch light up and the led light to. There is haptic feedback after unlocking the phone.

Is there a way to obtain data from it while the screen won't turn on?

Help Building KeyGuard for Cyanogenmod 11?

I want to make a small change to KeyGuard so that the buttons are bigger. I'm trying to just get the source and build it, but I can't seem to do that. I've done a "repo" command and modified the manifest just to get the source for the project I need, but it doesn't seem to want to build.

S Note force close on Cm13 based ROM

I recently flashed the Resurrection Remix 5.6.9 ROM . Unfortunately I noticed that the official Samsung S-note app suffers from the issue of force close. Does anyone know how to run S-note on CM13 based Rom? or does anyone suggest a note-taking app that works fine with S-pen?

S7 Edge not seeing USB 3.0 flash drives???

I have a new S7 Edge. Works great. Using the OTG connector provided with the phone by Samsung, it recognizes all sorts of great devices, including usb flash drives. However, I've tried it with 3 different brand/size USB 3.0 flash drives and it doesn't recognize any of them, despite the fact that if I pull it out and plug in a USB 2.0 flash drive, it comes right up.

Is there a special app/setting for USB 3.0 flash drives or is this a limitation? I know the port on the phone itself is only USB 2.0, but 3.0 is backwards compatible, otherwise you couldn't plug a 3.0 flash drive into any 2.0 port. My guess is that the OTG adapter doesn't somehow work with them, but I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if there's a work-around or not.

Samsung Galaxy s5 weird camera glitch

The glitch only happens when I point the phone to a light source or to a bright object. Sometimes after a couple of shots it goes back to normal. Anyone know how to fix this or even what this is called?

Tried many different things such as * tried various camera apps * reinstalled fresh copy of the ROM I'm using * reinstalled the camera app

Enable Dualwindows in EMUI 3.1 or higher
Good, because I have discovered how to enable MultiWindow (coming from marshmallow) in lollipop. To do this we need to be root.



The steps are as follows:

1. Download this zip and unzip. http://ift.tt/29uTj3j

2. Move the "HwMwLauncher" folder in / system / apps and give permissions rwxr-xr-x (755) and click in not scoring run in files (see screenshot).


3. Move the "multiwindow_whitelist_apps.xml" file to our CUST, in my case it would be / cust / CMCC / cn / xml

If you do not know what it is, we move it to / data / cust / xml and give permissions rw-r - r-- (644).

3. Open the build.prop is in / system with a text editor and add the line "ro.huawei.multiwindow = true" if we do not.

4. Reboot and ready.

why no one want to help?

hi, i am newb
i have a galaxy s2 plus i9105p based on android 4.1.2. i tried OTA updates but could find.
now i wanted to root it and install CM 12.1 on it.
i rooted it with firmware 4.1.2 via KINGROOT and install CWM non touch recovery on it.
now problem is in order to install CM 12.1 you must have stock 4.2.2 firmware.
please tell me how i update it to 4.2.2 now or any other method that i can install CM 12.1 on it

I think I have bricked my T2 ultra dual D5322 :(

I was reading about CyanogenMode, I really liked the Idea So I think that I need to give it a try
I read about flashing and recovery and the features you get when you use a custom ROM
I followed this thread
I saw that the build version is not the same as my T2 'I have 5.1 android version with build ' 19.4.A.0.182'' so I get upset until I reach the page 8 where the author 'abcdjdj' says that he updated the dual recovery img file and it's support the build ' 19.4.A.0.182' without problem
So I get excited, I navigated to sony website followed the instructions to unlock my bootloader and everthing is Ok.
I have successfully unlocked the bootloader, so I moved to the next step I flashed the custom recovery using the fastboot 'from android SDK' which has the file name ''TWRP-KK-T2_DUAL-V3.img" then when powering the device on I got to the first screen '.. By android' and 'Sony' stuffs then the device restart and a violate led lighting 'I think this called boot loop'
I've become afraid 'OMG I've just bricked my phone!'
But I remembered that I can access the recovery by pressing the volume-down button by pressing the volume-down button I get to the recovery main screen and everything is OK but I cannot boot to the system
I was thinking that I can now install CM so I do backup using the recovery, then copyed the backup file to the SD card and wiped the dalvik cache after doing a simple wipe 'factory reset from the wipe menu in the TWRP recovery'
Then I moved to 'install from a zip file' option and choose the file 'cm-11-20141105-EXPERIMENTAL-tianchi' which I have downloaded from the offical site of CM 'from this link' after TWRP finished installing the CM I choose to boot from the system and this is where everything turns into a living hell
My T2 is just stop working and I cannot powering it on again and when I connect it to my notebook nothing happen just nothing just the usb icon in the 'system notification area'!
I wish I could go back to the 'adb' and the blue led step again!
I've tried to press the power button with the volume-down button it worked for just a seconds and then shutting down again
So I repeated this step and then Immediately pressed the volume-up button, I get blue led again and I've confirmed that the fastboot is still seeing my T2 by writing in the command prompt 'fastboot devices'
Can you please help me? What I can do? Please Is there any hope that I can get my T2 back to life :(
BTW I'm so sorry for my bad English I'm doing my best to improve it :)

Spotify reduce notifications volume

NV Item Question

Hi everyone, I tried to add LTE bands to my S5 (sprint). I didn't get LTE to work as I'm using this phone for AT&T.

My issue is I believe I'm experiencing poor battery life due to the modem looking for At&t's LTE frequency bands.

I was wondering if flashing a clean stock ROM will re-write my modem (NV memory) and correct the issue.

[Q]Major battery issues

Basically my nexus 5 switches itself off at random battery percentages and then when u switch it back on it will be dead or on a low percentage, this doesn't always happen but you can imagine how frustrating it must be.

Just wondering if anyone has had an issue with this and if I just need a replacement battery.

Bumper (not case)

Are there bumpers for the Alpha? All the ones I found are cases. I have an after-market extended battery and a normal case won't fit. It's slippery with the naked metal frame. I'm looking for a soft bumper (TPU or silicone) to cover only the metal frame to have a better grip.

Absurd Battery Drain during use, Any Device, never was a problem till 5.0+

What's up xda guys and gals? I'm at a point where I've just reached the end of my wits and I'm about to just give up entirely over this. I've spent countless hours reading, for weeks, months, and now a few years off and on trying to find a solution to this... but even with the help of some pals here on the forums, I'm at a total loss.

Ever since we went to 5.0 Lollipop, my battery drain during use (As in, general use like web browsing, messaging, reading, emailing, etc) has just become out of control. Like, I'm talking extreme and it doesn't matter what device I use O.O , Yeah... Basically, whether I am reading, emailing, browsing, I on average lose about 1% every 1-2 minutes. Phones always running hot, I've tried underclocking, minimum brightness, under volting. Nothing fixes it...

I've had this issue on:

The OnePlus One (Only after 5.0, never on KK)
The Moto X 2nd gen
The Moto X Pure
The Nexus 6p
The HTC M9
The HTC 10
The Xperia Z2 and Z3

Now...for a quick recap of what I do on my devices... I never use auto sync, everything is set to manual, location is off, location scanning is off, wifi scanning is off, bluetooth is only on while I am in the car (bluetooth use is really on 2015+), almost always manual brightness, never turned above 50%, if auto is used I still limited it to 50% as a max. No games are ever played (mobile games aren't real games), No 3D stuff, or other heavy gpu related nonsense.

With these things in mind... Here is my battery history. Only with major milestones to indicate progression.
From the first to the last (oldest to newest device)

1. Galaxy S2 - Average runtime of 15-17 hours with 1.5-2.5 hours of SOT. (Although 2.5 wasn't till I learned to root and used roms, so very late)
2. Galaxy S3 - Average runtime of 16-18 hours, 2-3 hours of SOT.
3. Galaxy S4 - Average Runtime of 18-21 hours, 3-4 hours of SOT
4. Moto X 1st Gen - Average Runtime of 19-24 hours, 5-6 hours SOT.
5. HTC M8 - Average Runtime of 18-30 hours, 5-5.5 hours of SOT
6. OnePlus One - Average Runtime of 20-35 hours, 6-8 hours of SOT. (Average was about 7, but was lower for a while when I was streaming 20GB of youtube/music a month over LTE.

What do I get currently on my newer OnePlus one? Between Cos12.1-CM13 (Tried different ones over time), a average runtime of 10-15 hours with 2-3.5 hours of SOT, 4 if I am lucky. HOWEVER...if I do not use the phone, at all, like ZERO usage it will show 1-2 days of standby, if I use it for more than 5 minutes, it will say like 4 hours.
WTF happened?

Now... the the other phones I listed above that I had the same issue with, were all mostly similar. The OPO is the only device out of that group that can go over 3 hours of SOT for me. When I had a Moto X Pure, I actually completely drained it in 3 hours and 22 minutes. As in, Not like 12 hours and then 3 hours 22 minutes of SOT, I mean 3 hours and 22 minutes of COMPLETE RUN TIME. That was just a collective of messaging, reading, browsing the web and some videos over wifi, never higher than 720p. Nothing out of my norm at all...

I went through 5 different Moto X Pure's, I just thought... "I have to have a crap one, it cannot be this bad". But I gave up after the 5th.

The only device I've used that gave me ROCK solid battery life on something running 5.0+ was the Nexus 6, It felt like a normal phone to me, but that dang ascending ringtone just killed it for me. Although now days I need waaaaaay more than 64GB, but i digress.

My question is... am I going nuts? Or did android just become extremely power inefficient after 5.0+? What happened? I just honestly cannot imagine that phones are this garbage with battery now days, I am a power user in terms of reading, messaging, and such, but I don't game or steam 1440p videos over LTE all day like some folks do. How on earth do people even use phones like that today? With all my efforts to be as battery economical as possible, it's horrible by 4.4 and under standards, what is it like for people who don't try to conserve at all? 1 hour phones? I'm seriously just at a loss...

Now, I know most of you will say "post battery stats", and I can do so if someone wishes...but it's never helped me find anything. There are no applications consuming like 80% of the power, it all just... looks normal, just Android System always around 12%-15%. I've tried multiple battery stat applications, I've sent stats to friends on xda, and so far it's just "normal". It basically feels like every phone I touch just magically has its' battery reduced to 1000 mah or something. I just... I'm seriously at a loss.

Can someone shed some light on this? Am I crazy? Or did 5.0+ just zap up the power?

My OP3 keeps switching from LTE to 4G+. I have never heard of it until now? Is this only on the OP3? I have owned all the other flagship phones this year. None of them ever displayed this.

Zenfone 2 power button sticking

I circled the switch in this picture (I posted this on reddit with the source, i can't post outside links here. Sorry for broken link, i don't have enough posts for proper links) imgur . com/JWUOnVc

Anyway, the switch gets stuck down and if I accidentally press it then the phone will just turn itself off and I can't use it until i get a pen/something small and put it in the little slot to pull it out, press it again, then pull it back out. It gets stuck all the way down, and my warranty is void due to it being over a year old, disassembling it, and unlocking the bootloader. I really like this phone, however this stuck power button is driving me crazy. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I really don't want to disassemble it to the point of removing the battery, but if I have to i will. Any way I can fix this?

Currently many major flashlight apps have a lot of negatives, for example:
- Useless graphic features that increase the size of the application,
- Inconvenient Screenlight function (white screens that are not even full screen with banners/ads popping up),

4G Network NOT accessible on MI5 PRO 128GB

I am in a country where all Network Operator uses Band3 (1800Mhz) for LTE. And i have search everywhere and it is clearly mentioned that mi5 pro do support lte Band3 and yet i can seem to be able to connect at all!
I am using China Stable version 7.5.6 and yet just cant connect at all to the LTE Network even when i manually tries to search and register to 4G Network, it just goes to No service then Emergency Calls only. :crying:

Hope anyone can help me out with this as i find it very sad that i cant use 4G in my country.

I have already tried several times to change stuff on the *#*#4636#*#* menu but still it just does the same thing. i have sims of all 3 operators and yet none of them connects to the 4G networks.

Will an unlocked T-Mobile S7 Edge work on Sprint's network? I have to ask as I am strongly, and I mean very strongly, considering switching back to Android from my iPhone 6S. My iPhone is cool and all but I miss being able to download music without iTunes and the options to customize my phone.

The lastest OTA won't install - sends my phone into a recovery loop

Hi all, I was running a CM ROM on my Droid Turbo and recently flashed back to stock using a backup I created with TWRP, because I was tired of not having GPS capabilities.
Now that I'm running stock (still rooted), I've been getting a notification to do an OTA update. When I allow the update to install, it restarts my phone and sends me straight to the TWRP recovery and does nothing else. Rebooting gets me stuck in a loop where it keeps sending me to recovery. Clearing out my cache got me out of the loop but after a day or so, the annoying install message comes back.

I noticed an error message when I looked at the log screen in TWRP. As best I can transcribe it, it says:
Package expects build fingerprint of motorola/quark_verizon/quark:5.1/SU4TL-44/44:user/release-keys or Motorola/quark…. ; this device has Motorola/omni_quark/quark:5.1.1/LYZ28E/1:eng/test-keys

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with my phone – why I can't take the OTA? Any advice on how to fix the problem or get this stupid upgrade notification to go away? The notification takes over the device every time you unlock the screen so it's driving me crazy.

Gear Watch Designer - Customizable icon/button

I've just started designing watch faces for the Gear S2. I am using the latest version of Samsung's Gear Watch Designer on my macbook pro.

I have designed a pretty decent digital watch face that I am very happy with, which includes shortcuts/buttons/icons to my favorite appse. As of now, the buttons are not customizable from the watch.

That being said, I would prefer to make them customizable. Anyone have any tips?

I am not really a true "programmer", so maybe that's going to be my problem... but can this be done using Gear Watch Designer, or will it take actual coding?

Can't Revert to 5.0.2 after 6.0.1

I have a G920W8 and can't seem to downgrade after OTA update from Bell. I've tried running Odin with the stock 5.0.2 Bell firmware but i get this

Weird sensation/feedback from the metal while dash charging? Anyone else?

So if my phone is Dash charging, I sometimes get a tingling sensation if I touch the metal of the phone. Almost like a low level electric shock/pins and needles type feeling. If it starts to happen, I can make it stop by disconnecting the USB cable from the phone...

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but has anyone else experienced or noticed this?

Whats true? too many theories about consequences after unlocking bootloader

Hi,

I bouth a used Z5 and I just found that it was unlocked and then restored the drm.

I read some posts saying that you lose functionality, and that it also affect to the camera. Other posts say that that depends on the way you unlock it, others say that you cant restore it, and others that you can depend on your the method.

I Can't Find /system/vendor Folder

My device is rooted. I use Layers Manager and I break my phone. systemui fc. Developers says "mount /system and delete files on /system/vendor/overlay. I mounted system but I cant find vendor folder there is a file named vendor. I tried mount vendor. But TWRP cant connect /data. If it cant connect I cant see Vendor in Mounts. If I wipe TWRP can connect /data but I dont want to wipe. Can I delete files with adb shell?

[REQUEST] Need Middle East(Pakistan Region/ALE-L21C185b160) OEMINFO File

I basically flashed @sokkoban Deodexed b564 ROM, by changing location, it was working fine, but i reverted to B160 ROM, after transition pack, i first installed Pakistan Factory image i.e B120, and i recieved OTA update of B130 and later B160,
I also changed region,everything is working fine,no balong bug etc, but OEMINFO file of pakistan is currupted, as no IMEI and no working WIFI and Bluetooth, icons grey out, i researched, and somehow manage to get my Signals back by following @sokkoban Post. link is here

but no WIFI and bluetooth working, did more research and finally find out that OEMINFO which is mentioned in sokkoban post was basically for HONOR 4C, which corrupted my basic baseband, so i need OEMINFO file of any of below ROM, i.e B120,B130 or B160.

T-Mobile Unlimited Tethering?

TL;DR (I feel like ranting, so here's the point of this so you don't have to read everything)

PLEASE tell me there is an option for us HTC 10 T-Mobile folks that will DESTROY that throttle?!?!!!!

MY RANT

I am with T-Mobile and I pay for unlimited data. This pretty much means I pay for 25gigs of data and then continue to pay for "unlimited" data that gets throttled so bad, opening up google.com make me want to carve my eyes out...it is impossible to deal with.

I am a HEAVY data user (I'm at 45.6gigs w/ 14 days left to wait until I get my REAL data back) and I do not have access to Wi-Fi most the day.

I get it...an average person gets unlimited bc it makes them feel good inside knowing they have it of they need it (even though on average sharing 6 or 10 gig's with one other person is more than enough...gogo gadget ex sales associate employee for phones).

But I pay for unlimited bc I NEED it!

They claim that the FCC is the ones that makes them create this throttle point...but a chick at Verizon said its the carriers - so they can save money.

And then they try to justify it with saying that I need to share the love with the other users who pay for 3gig plans...so they get priority in congested areas.

Last time I checked, I'm a paying customer too...and I am paying for your "Truly Unlimited Data Plan"

I have a RN3SD device, I have had a full backup(6.5.19global developer rom) via Alka TWRP. I have officially unlocked my device,and now I am on unofficial RR rom. By the way, I have closed boot.img verify through TWRP.

How can I revert back to stock global rom, and root it. using xposed and viper4android?:confused:

trouble building cm13

I've hit a bit of a brick wall while trying to do my first CyanogenMod build (cm13 on trltespr). Not sure if this should be put on the device board itself but I figured I'd try here first. I've extracted proprietary files from the device, followed the guide on the CM wiki, and while trying to build I'm getting the following error from make:

make: *** No rule to make target '/home/cmbuild/android/system/out/target/common/obj/JAVA_LIBRARIES/tcmiface_intermediates/javalib.jar', needed by '/home/cmbuild/android/system/out/target/common/obj/JAVA_LIBRARIES/okhttp_intermediates/classes-full-debug.jar'. Stop.

From what I've gathered I absolutely do not want to skip building either of these libraries, so I'm kind of at an impasse here. Does anyone have any thoughts on what my options may be here?

Recover data from Maxx HD?

A few days ago, my Razr Maxx HD crashed and won't boot. It is locked, and not rooted. Initially, it wouldn't ever get past the red circle initial splash screen and would stay on that for hours. I was able to press the Power+VolUp+VolDown to get to the menu to Restore, Normal Boot, etc... I was able to get to the dead android guy one time and one time only thus far. I tried to take it into a store, but they did a very half-hearted attempt and trying to get it to work again. Since then, I have never been able to get as far as I did prior in trying to recover anything.

Now, it almost immediately just boots into fastboot with an error of Kernel Boot Failure.

My phone does/did have Developer Options enabled, and I was previously able to use it with Android Studio, and deploy apps to it, so I know the drivers are loaded on my computer fine, and I am using the same cable.

Ultimately and if possible, I am wanting to retrieve the data off the phone. From what I am seeing I THINK it is still possible.

When I connect the phone to my computer, and it is in fastboot, I can type this in the cmd prompt: "fastboot devices". It sees it and lists it as a device. On my phone, I also get the message of "USB connected", or "USB disconnected" (if I disconnect it). In the Windows Device Manager, when I plug it in, it detects the hardware change, and I get the entry for "ADB" in the Device Manager. If I disconnect it, it goes away. So, windows does see it on some level. In that same command prompt, if I type "adb devices", it does not see any devices attached.

If I can get adb to work, I should be able to pull the data off. Knowing that it goes into boot failure, should adb even work? Does it need to boot up far enough for adb to work, or should adb work no matter what?

I've looked into unlocking to install TWRP or similar, but doing so, deletes data which defeats the purpose in all of this.

I can still get to the menu to boot into Normal, Recovery, BP Tools, etc... but so far any option I try puts me back into Fastboot.

Any thoughts? Anything for me to try?

Default Music Player Setting

Greetings,
Just purchased PowerAmp music player app. I am trying to set this app as my default music player. I have gone into the default application, selected "set as default", cleared my music player defaults

1. Don't see PowerAmp listed in my "set as Default" section of my settings.

2. after selecting "Application manager", PowerAmp is listed, but when I press "set as default", the page show "None set as default", and no other option are enabled.

When I select a song using "my File" app, I am given the choice of selecting "Sound Player" or "Google Play Music" apps (Poweramp is not shown as a selection option).

Is there a way to select PowerAmp as my default player?

TWRP update

So I have a rooted Moto X 2014 and I have TWRP installed as the custom recovery. I was wondering if there was any simple way to update TWRP. If anybody knows how to achieve this I would greatly appreaciate a reply! I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm running CM13.

Hello :)

Do you remember, some months ago when a developer had successfully found an anwser to the Knox counter reset ?
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was running on a Exynos SoC, same as the Galaxy S6 (edge), so I think structures might be the same thing.

Why not try to create a patch to reset Knox flag at its original state ?
I'm sure it's possible, and as we says in my country : "impossible isn't French" ^_^

S7 Edge stocks Edge feed

Hi, I'm having an issue with my stocks Edge feed. I have added 4 different stocks, but when I turn my screen off and access my Edge feeds I'm only able to see the first stock. The ticker won't scroll left, to see the other stocks. I have internet connection and next to that first stock says updated quotes delayed and on the left side has a blue circle. The ticker used to work and show more than one stock but I'm not sure what happened, please help and thanks for your time!

iPhone 5 Random Boot Loop

Hello,
Yesterday i was just on my iPhone normally just browsing through some apps when all of a sudden my phone just turned off. I then rebooted it and it went into a bootloop where the phone boots up for 10 seconds displaying the Apple logo, then it starts to fade away and then the phone restarts over and over again. My iPhone is not jailbroken so it can't be any Tweaks etc causing this issue as i have done nothing to make thie phone do this. One thing to note though the phone has been turning off on all kind of different pecentages which could be an battery issue but it still doesn't explain this bootloop occurence. Can anyone please help?

I need a kernel guide and I have some questions about ROM/Kernel porting.

Hey! I'd love to know more about kernels, but I can't find that info.


What are the differences between Android versions in Kernels? How hard would it be to port Android on some device that already has a linux kernel? (Maybe something simmilar to what this guy did, just with more info on the process) What about a device that already has an Android kernel, just for other android version?


Would it be possible to port an older android version to Nexus 5x? (I.E. Lollipop, maybe even KitKat)

Okay, so I know that I would have to port kernel modules from devices with same chipsets, but I don't really get it.

DROK OLED USB 3.0 Tester with Quick Charge support





Unboxing

The Device is well-packaged in a really nice Aluminum Package, that contains the Tester (of course), a small strap (this one reminds me Baby Toys, i don't know why haha) and an extremely details Manual that i'll show you.





It is made of Plastic, pretty solid (much better than other cheap USB testers) with a nice Blue color.





It supports USB 3.0, so both USB ports have the typical Blue color and the additional pins inside that enables USB 3.0 transmission.





As regards the size, well it doesn't need to be measured. It has the standard size as almost every USB tester. But if you want an example, it is as big as a Standard USB Stick.


The device comes with a bright OLED Screen, with light-blue text on a black background. Its board support multiple interesting features, that i'll gradually show you in this review.





On the back, there is a Key button required to switch between all modes.






Testing

First of all, this is the Official Manual where ALL features are described, with every single How-TO and so on. Even if it isn't written with a perfect English, it is still perfectly understandable.





So, following the Manual's order, the device supports three modes. Direct - Fast - Disconnected.

Using the "Connect" mode, the device will work as a standard tester, without forcing any Quick Charge protocol or something else. (just like you do when you connect a device directly to its charger).

This mode can be used with all devices, without having to worry about compatibility issues. (as you can see, both standard & QC devices work)

Also, as the Manual says, it is clearly noticeable that the Over-Voltage feature works without any issue at all, because on the photo on the right you can see a little arrow just near the voltage.





With the "Fast" mode, you can choose to force AC Charging even using your Computer's USB Ports. You can switch to this mode by pressing the "Key" button while you insert the Tester into your USB port.





As regards the last mode, "Disconnect", i still have to find how it works, so i'll probably update the review as soon as i manage to get it working. If i understood correctly the manual, it works with USB Data devices, and you can "kill" the data transmission to increase charging output, but i am not sure.


In order to make all things easier, there is a LED light that alerts you when it is ready to receive a command (long-press or double-click depending on what you want to do).





You can easily switch between "mAh" & "mWh" by long-pressing the Key button for 2 seconds. (if you keep it pressed for more seconds, the screen will rotate, this is another interesting feature).





The last feature regards its screen mode, you can switch to another more detailed view that will show "mAh" & "mWh" in the same time. (double-click the Key button)






Conclusions

Sincerely i have no words to describe this device...it is awesome! It has almost everything that you need to test your USB devices (almost everything because it doesn't have a Timer and a Temperature Sensor). It is solid, easy-to-use and it doesn't feel cheap as others. It feels Premium. Well Done DROK!

So...do i recommend it? Yes! If you need a professional, reliable USB Tester, this is probably the best choice.
